Abstract
Fieldwork is done solely by over 700 NBS Staff in all the States of the federation, supported by supervisors whom internal and external observers monitor. Gas Prices are collected across all the 774 local governments across all States and the FCT from over 10,000 respondents and outlets and the estimates reflect the weights derived from estimates of household expenditures on gas and the actual prices households bought different KG of gases. The average prices are reported for each state and the country. The NBS audit team subsequently conducts randomly selected verification of prices recorded.

Description The average retail price for refilling a 5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 1.92% on
a month-on-month basis from N8,167.43 recorded in May 2025 to N8,323.95 in June 2025. On a year-on-year basis,
this increased by 19.49% from N6,966.03 in June 2024. On state profile analysis, Delta recorded the highest average
price for refilling a 5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) with N9,243.38, followed by Cross River
with N9,193.16 and Rivers with N9,188.51. On the other hand, Oyo recorded the lowest price with N7,100.00, fol
lowed by Plateau and Yobe with N7,200.00 and N7,600.00 respectively. In addition, analysis by zone showed that
the South-South recorded the highest average retail price for refilling a 5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas
(Cooking Gas) with N8,871.63, followed by the South-East with N8,649.55 while the South-West recorded the low
est with N7,960.42.
Also, the average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by
1.46% on a month-on-month basis from N20,709.11 in May 2025 to N21,010.56 in June 2025. On a year-on-year
basis, this rose by 33.52% from N15,736.27 in June 2024. On state profile analysis, Delta recorded the highest aver
age retail price for the refilling of a 12.5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) with N23,108.44 fol
lowed by Cross River with N22,982.89 and Rivers with N22,971.27. Conversely, the lowest average price was record
ed in Yobe with N19,000.00, followed by Niger and Jigawa with N19,242.48 and N20,025.94 respectively. Analysis by
zone showed that the South-South recorded the highest average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) with N22,179.08, followed by the South-East with N21,623.86 while the South
West recorded the lowest price with N20,402.42.

Description The average retail price for refilling a 5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by 3.57% on
a month-on-month basis from N7,885.60 recorded in April 2025 to N8,167.43 in May 2025. On a year-on-year basis,
this increased by 10.10% from N7,418.45 in May 2024. On state profile analysis, Abia recorded the highest average
price for refilling a 5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) with N9,181.20, followed by Ebonyi with
N9,177.32 and Rivers with N9,174.40. On the other hand, Oyo recorded the lowest price with N7,116.49, followed
by Niger and Plateau with N7,142.07 and N7,177.10 respectively. In addition, analysis by zone showed that the
South-South recorded the highest average retail price for refilling a 5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas
(Cooking Gas) with N8,760.51, followed by the South-East with N8,724.70 while the North-Central recorded the
lowest with N7,759.38.
Also, the average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) increased by
2.18% on a month-on-month basis from N20,268.06 in April 2025 to N20,709.11 in May 2025. On a year-on-year
basis, this rose by 32.52% from N15,627.40 in May 2024. On state profile analysis, Delta recorded the highest aver
age retail price for the refilling of a 12.5kg Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) with N23,356.46 fol
lowed by Abia with N22,953.01 and Ebonyi with N22,943.30. Conversely, the lowest average price was recorded in
Yobe with N18,500.00, followed by Lagos and Kebbi with N18,536.00 and N18,606.60 respectively. Analysis by zone
showed that the South-South recorded the highest average retail price for refilling a 12.5kg Cylinder of Liquefied
Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) with N22,026.26, followed by the South-East with N21,811.76 while the North-West
recorded the lowest price with N19,944.10.
